[ Jackson hated the woods. They were filthy, exposed and unnecessary. Not to mention the insulting lack of supplies. The message, however, was a welcome invitation. But he didn't care about us-versus-them. It was him versus everyone else. Even what remained of his pack wasn't safe, if they chose to cross him. He could always bite more people.

Because Jackson? He was an alpha. A cold, uncaring, ruthless alpha. He never spent time as the kanima, lacking the issues that had led to that for his counterpart. He'd need some semblance of a heart to be anywhere near that. But he was also from a little further along the timeline. Having taken on the Alpha twins and taken their power from him.

He could be found stalking through the woods. Seeking his pack. Seeking infiltrators. Seeking anyone he could find an excuse to kill. ]

[ In looks, he is no different. But in voice, he certainly is. There's a cold stillness to him. An overwhelming sense of control. Making him sound closer to Peter Hale than the little ball of fury that was the original version of Jackson. ]

There is only one person who's going to win this. And no one will stand in my way. So we're going to work out a little deal. Anyone in my pack--[ The word sounded like poison on his tongue. ]--should already know what that is.

[The Scott he knew hasn't worn a human face in a month. Scott's gaze turns shifty, and he clears his throat.]

Yeah, I mean, uh, why would I pay attention to you?

[ He didn't know that. He'd only been on the barge a few days. ]

Who do you think you're fooling, McCall?

Um.

[This is not really going well, is it scotty.]

I'm not....trying to fool anyone.

[ He smirked. All arrogance and cocky attitude. ]

You're all wrong.

You have no idea how ironic that is.

[It's the Jackson he remembers, sort of, except he really, really didn't like the old Jackson very much. At all.]

[ He flips it to private. Not for Scott's sake, but because he assumes this is something he could hold over Scott's head. ]

If you want people think believe that you're what McCall used to be, you might want to put in a little more effort.

[Scott doesn't trust it, really - this is not a Jackson he thinks he could trust. But he's still grateful for the privacy to grimace in.]

No offense, but I don't really want to put any effort into being like that asshole.

[ This Scott was proving to be weaker and weaker. How hilariously pathetic. At least any other version Jackson had known at least had some strength. ]

Then why even try?

[He shrugs, shoulders coming up around his ears for a moment.]

Seemed like a good idea at the time? Look, Jackson, I'm not interested in a fight or, or whatever. I don't even really know how you guys, uh, get along.

[He really, really doubts they do.]

I'm just, I'm not him.

[ Jackson just smiled. A slow, cold sort of smile. ]

Which is exactly why I'm going to kill you, McCall. If you're not him, that makes you...an intruder.

[He doesn't want this fight. He doesn't want to find out who's stronger. But he's not going to lie down and bare his throat, either. His uneven jaw locks, and red fades into his eyes.]

You don't wanna do that.

[ As Scott's eyes fade, Jackson's own flare red, though his expression maintained that same cold, cocky confidence. ]

And why's that?

I don't want to hurt you.

But I so want to hurt you, McCall.

[He doesn't bother fully shifting, but his shoulders square and his voice takes on that deep, almost-growl quality.]

How did you become an alpha?

Only one way, McCall. I took it. From someone who had no right to such power.

There's more than one way. I didn't have to take my power, Jackson. You don't wanna fight me.

[He's bluffing. But he's gotten a lot better at it.]

You've missed the part where I want to. I've been told that killing one of your own gives you their strength. I wonder if the same thing's true for killing another alpha. Because, let's face it, you wouldn't stand a chance.

You have no idea what it means to be an alpha.

[He's bluffing, really, because mostly he doesn't know either. But if werewolves aren't evil like the Argents used to say - and he doesn't believe they are - then their leaders can't just be bloodthirsty monsters. He won't be that.]

I know exactly what it means to be an alpha. What it means to take power from another. It's something a pathetic little brat like you would never understand.

That's what it means to be a monster.

[He never thought of this, when Jackson was around, what he'd be like if he really did get all this power. Scott wonders what he's doing in London. Did he ever find a pack? Did he do this?

Scott doesn't think so. This Jackson couldn't have been the kanima.]

Don't push me, Jackson.

[ And Scott was right. This Jackson's version of Beacon Hills never dealt with the kanima. Though he did still kill Lahey's dad on his first full moon. He was sick of hearing them argue all the time. He would have killed Isaac, too. But the kid got away. ]

Push you? McCall, I'm going to rip you apart.

[The change happens slowly, ears shifting and growing, hair sprouting along his jaw, nose flattening and widening.]

You'll try. And you'll fail. And then you'll have to figure out how to fix your wounded pride.

[ He let out a small, cold laugh, as his eyes flared red. ]

Is that supposed to...what? Scare me? Intimidate me? There's going to be so little of you left, even the Admiral's going to have trouble bringing you back. And when he does? It means I get to do all over again. And again. And again. Until you simply stop WANTING to come back.

[Well that does actually freak him out a bit. But he doesn't let it show.]

Dude, either you come find me, or shut up. But I don't have time for this.
